Finding Resolute

This year we feature two digital productions concerning the whaling bark George Henry. While on a whaling expedition in 1855, George Henry discovered the abandoned HMS Resolute abandoned in the ice.  Captain James Buddington ordered the crew abandon their whaling mission and begin the salvage of Resolute.

HMS Resolute was one of several ships engaged in the search for the lost Franklin expedition.  Five years later, George Henry, under the command of Sidney Buddington, went in search of the same lost expedition.

Finding the Resolute and Tookoolito describe two events in our maritime history which involve the George Henry.
