Becoming a Member

The New London County Historical Society has been a membership-based organization since it began in 1870. Our members understand how this region has been defined by its past, how history is the fabric of the community and key to our sense of place. Members become stewards with us in support of our mission, which is unique among our many local historical organizations in being county-wide:

The mission of the New London County Historical Society is to preserve our southeastern Connecticut’s history, educate all who wish to learn, and to partner through community service.

Membership sales are available online for individuals and families at different levels.

Businesses have also supported the Historical Society as sponsors for special events and as members. Businesses can extend their sponsorships into partnerships, furthering their reach and our mission. Educational memberships are available for educational institutions which provide benefits for the entire school community.

Membership in the New London County Historical Society, Inc. helps to support the work of the Society and  demonstrates a commitment to stewardship with us in preserving New London County’s history for future generations to study and enjoy.

Members receive a semi-annual newsletter, and free admission to the Shaw Mansion for tours and programs. Additionally, members receive reduced rates for other events. Use of the research library is free to members, although an appointment is needed. Members also receive a 10% discount on books and other items sold by the Society.

Join us as in stewardship as a member today, because HISTORY MATTERS!
